How tall is it without using the centre column?

Interesting links Mike, thanks for those.

I wouldn't mind a shorter lighter travel pod but this doesn't look to be it.

Photographers can be so glum sometimes! There's nothing wrong with a bit of snazzy marketing.

Anyway, where's the picture that mimics the New York video and says, "Hi, I'm jules and this is my three legged thing!"
You gave me the impression John that If I did just that and went "Too Far" you would pull the post! Just trying to stay within the boundries...

This is being used as evidence to my other half that sometimes I do listen and can take advice from other people:arrow:

Aren't you supposed to put your camera on it!!
I give up I can't spot where it is in the 6th shot

If I could only have one Camera Support without doubt it would be the Novoflex Basic Ball absolutely brilliant supports up to 55 lbs and the legs can be screwed into different positions.

For shoulder/chestpod use with a 75mm high B&S head it's unbelievable... use either 3 legs (awkward) or remove the bottom leg and rest the two rubber balls of the other 2 legs against or on top of your shoulders, so that your shoulders support about half of the weight. I can't even steady the camera properly with a standard lens never mind a tele, but with this setup I have no problems with a 300mm lens and 2x converter. I've tried comparing it with a rigid tripod and there isn't any advantage using the tripod. I've even tried it with a monopod screwed into the bottom hole and rested on the ground, but again no advantage

A cheap B&S is all that's needed. I use one of these, but with a quick release. Easily supports the DA*300 and camera and will slip if it receives a sudden bang.
If I'd had two of them at the time the other would be in "Shot 6"
I had to show a pic of the scenery alone after all

I had an email yesterday from Johnsons who say the replacements "may" be in the country this week. If it goes on any longer I am going to ask for a refund and buy a 7D just out of spite.

Then I will probably regret it a few days later.
That rings Bells with me Mike, thats sort of how I ended up here from Nikon!

"Looks pretty good though."
I think so...
I think they've made the Tripod funky and attractive and above all desirable, which can only be good for Photography really...
Try one out if you ever gt a K5... (Are you still waiting???)

I just like it Mike and That was all I was trying to portray! Just meant to be a light hearted "Me and my new best mate" peice, not a review just a bit of a laugh!
It's a beautifully crafted peice of kit designed here in blighty and yes I guess I love it:arrow:

Hi, just to let people know about how I'm getting on with testing this Tripod.
Disclaimer: This is not an Advert, not a power sell and I do not work for them (Mores the pity, then I might get a free one!)
Unfortunately for me I was Housebound for most of my test week due to my Twenty Year old Cat being unwell. (Sadly he didn't make it and I'm having a hard time filling that gap at the moment...)
Onwards,
Decided to take the Larger of the two I am having to try out (I think it's called Kirk?) up Dodd Fell to see what it's like to hike with etc.
First a couple of Shots of the beast in question:

You get the Idea? It's like a Tripod but kinda funky!
Not too heavy and this is one of the Mag Alloy range, they do Carbon fibre to but they are out for me at the minute due to finances.
First off I took it to Derwentwater to get acclimatised so to speak:

Got it too the top of Dodd Fell and again no ill effects:

Jist of all this is that I am really enjoying this tripod, it is robust easy to carry and generally a Joy to work with, the head is a thing of beauty, everything just works! On top of that it has turned a Tripod into something that I want to carry instead of just leave at home
Heres a Shot looking back off the top of Dodd towards Bassenthwaite with Criffel in the Background:

Finally down for the Bus ride home and Crash out
Cue arty sleepy shot:

Or was it just blurred???
Should have used a Tripod
P.S.
Next week I'm going out with her skinnier sister
