"PIP Expanded Guide: Pentax *istD, *istDS and *istDL"
Cliff Smith; Paperback; £14.95
I've ordered my copy - looks like it might be interesting, and it's a further indication that slowly but surely Pentax is getting back into the action.

The other major source is eBay.
Jessops have stopped dealing in second hand gear, but there are plenty of dealers who do.

Is your holiday a break from everything, or a photographic trip that is an opportunity for new images?

Personally, I am not going to try it.

There is in addition a quick way to evaluate the R, G and B channels. Select channels in the dialog box bottom right of your workspace (assuming the default position) and simply click the channel you want to look at. If any of the channels is what you want then just go Image>Mode>Grayscale and it will ask "Discard other channels?" to which you say yes and you ens up with the one colour channel as a mono image.

On 35mm cameras they will act as whatever focal length is marked as, for example, a 75mm lens remains exactly that.
On a DSLR the magnification factor will be 1.5x in the usual way.
As regards quality, medium format lenses do not have resolution as high as 35mm lenses (they don't need it as the amount of enlargement needed for a given print size is not as great) but on the other hand we would only be using the centre part of the lens image circle, so that will help.
Hope that helps!
