Hi all,

thanks for your advice. Sure I tried to fine-tune the AF in a normal daylight too, with the aperture wide open.

I'm not that worried about my AF correct AF fine-tuning technique, as I attempted to sort it a few times already. The problem as I see it is that I don't understand whether there is a procedure provided by Ricoh that would help me, and people like me, to deal with these problems. When I called Johnsons Photopia Ltd they weren't necessarily helpful, and I felt bit stranded as I have a camera under warranty period, and I can't send it somewhere to get it fixed without a charge?

This situation does not really reassure me. I'm considering getting the FA31, but that's a large investment, and as the lens has mixed reviews regarding how accurate the AF is I just want to be 100% sure it'll be perfect.

Anyway, thanks again. I'm still interested in experiences with getting the body / lens serviced and / or the AF fixed. If you have any knowledge that relates to this then please share, I'd be really grateful.

Thanks!

J.

Hi all,

I searched the forum, but could not find an answer to this, so I hope you won't mind me asking. Also, hope I'm posting this in the correct part of the forum.

I have a k-3 and 4 lenses, the DA 15 Ltd, DA 35 Ltd, FA 77 Ltd and DA*200. Since I got the k-3 I was having love / hate relationship with the AF. Of course it is much better than on my previous k10d, but sometimes I just feel that I'm not really getting the focus right.

I tried the AF micro adjustment, and I have set it up for each of my lenses separately. I *think* that I have done it best I could, at least in the rough & ready conditions of my living room. I saw improvements, but I still don't feel I'm getting the right focus as I should really.

So I though - the camera is still in warranty period, so I might get a technician to investigate this form me. I called the SRS (that's where the camera and 3 out of 4 lenses are from) but I was told that they don't provide that service. I was hoping for some sort of help or advice, as the camera is still in its warranty period, but hey, I understand that they only sell the cameras. So I called the Pentax tech support number listed on the Ricoh website and the (very polite and nice) guy recommended getting in touch with Johnsons Photopia Ltd. I called them then, and I was told that I can of course send the body and lenses in. Apparently they do only service (repair?) and that would cost me at least £100 per lens and over £180 for body, plus VAT. I was really surprised, as that's pretty hefty price tag.

So I wonder if anyone went through the same process? I'd like to get the body checked - it's still in warranty, so I'd expect there should be an option for getting it checked and potentially fixed without a charge? The Pentax technician told me that there are tolerances on both lenses and bodies, and my combination of gear could be one of those.

Could anyone advise me what are my options here? Do you guys have any related experiences? Thanks!
