when you take the film to be developed just ask them to develop it at the iso setting that the camera was set at.
i.e. I think you used a 200 film and the camera was set at 400. Ask them to develop at 400.

It should come out ok.

have done it myself in the past and it worked for me.

thanks for that george, I am trying to take my time. It alll too eaasy to just start buying lenses and other kit.

My thoughts at the moment are for ~ 200 - 300mm zoom and a prime 50mm F1.4 but nothing definite yet. Just going to try a few films with what I've got and see how it goes.

I was reading a book about colour photography somebody called Michael Brusselle and every pricture in the book has used a warm up filter 81a , b or c and sometimes a polarising filter as well. So it would seem that they are another 'must'.

Would be interested in other peoples opinion?

thanks for the clarfication on that.

The offer from SRS sounds good and from the books I've been reading there seems to be a huge amount of photography taken with 200-300mm lenses.

PS. Warehouse Express have one in their January sale for £69.99: http://www.warehouseexpress.com/?/specials/Jansale.html#Digital%20:%20Lenses (Tamron AF 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1:2 - Pentax).[/quote]have seen this point raised on another thread, the lens quoted from Warehouse express is "Di LD macro" on the site it is quoted for digital SLR

can I use it with MZ-5?

cheers matt

so far to get my head around is lenses, the camera functions and CS2 plus read through the half dozen books I picked up from the library yesterday.

Think I better just stick a film in and go take some pics.

Doe anyone find keeping a log of what you did when taking pics helps. I'd of thought it is a must ?

Matt (had a look at your photoshop tips) , or anybody else who can answer another one of my stupid questions

When you have a 35mm film developed obviously you can get a cd of the pics. Can you use CS2 to edit those images from the CD?

Reason I ask is because I have got CS2 and would like to have a play around.

thanks George,

like I said the penny has dropped about the relative diameter of the aperture compared to the length.

Camera has finally arrived and it has the 28 - 70 f4-f22 lens.

First impressions are it so flipping light and the auto focus is just amazing (to me anyway)

The operation/action of the lens seems a bit "scratchy" when you adjust the focus and zoom. Is it possible to lubricate or clean the action?

Have downloaded the manual (it's actually the MZ5-N manual 101 flipping pages) and just trying to work my way through the functions before loading the film.

WOW!!!

you guys know your stuff , I'm gonna have to print off this whole thread because I'll never remember it!

mucho mucho ta for the explanations. That last one from you Tony really makes the penny drop.

(hope some other folks are benefiting as well, perhaps the ones that are a bit shy and don't want to show their ignorance like me. )
