Photographer since the age of seven. My first piece of photojournalism was published in an annual when I was 13 years old - a 1300-word six-pix news feature. Went on to become a trainee on a local weekly paper. Moved up and then downwards . . . became a deskman - deputy pic editor on a regional daily, sub editor on Daily Express and off to The Sun after Roop acquired it. Returned home to Devon in mid 70's and back to freelance snapping and writing before going into radio and TV reporting and presenting (that's me on the front of TV Times)with photography on the side, specialising in marine and yachting for boaty titles. Semi-retired since 2005 and spending most of the time sailing and cruising Biscay coasts.

First camera: Grandpa Jimmy Cooke's (of lens fame) Kodak No2 followed by a plastic Brownie 127. First more serious camera: a Coroll Bencini Comet 127.
First even more serious and 35mm camera: Boots Beirette
First money-making camera: Altix-n v/f interchangeable lens jobby with 5cm and 9cm Meier lenses, followed by an EdixaMat Reflex.
First Pentax: S3.
