Thanks for the reply Liam.
I have the flash sync set to the green icon and the exposure control is zero. In fact I have tried altering this and am getting the same results.
The flash is definately only firing once (as wintessed by my good lady wife) and according to the manual it should fire twice in P-TTL mode.
When using the flash under normal indoor conditions, the images are almost black (totally under-exposed) yet shooting with the flash off, the images come out as expected - dark yet clear enough for the conditions.
20+ years of photography and I thought I knew what I was doing!!

Hi,
I've just bought the AF360FGZ for use with my *ist 35mm and *ist DL2. My problem is that the flash is firing before the shutter opens and the resulting image is under-exposed. I am led to this conclusion as I can see the flash firing through the view finder before the mirror raises.
I have been over the instructions in the manual numerous times but I seem to be missing something.
I have tried the flash with my *ist 35mm but will have to wait to see if I have the same problems.
Has anyone got any idea's where I'm going wrong?
Cheers,
Ian

I also have a couple of Praktica's which were donated to me but they are currently gathering dust in the wardrobe as I haven't had the time to give them a good clean.
The first camera I used was my parents Kodak Instamatic which you had to use a flash cube for indoor shots. I also had an early 80's hanimex 110 film camera - the pictures I still have from this are grainy to say the least and slightly out of focus - possibly due to me being 10 when I took them!!
My main camera's are the DL2 and the *ist 35mm.
