SorryEgret. I suspect its actually a Lesser Black-backed gull (or even a Yellow-legged gull). Note the 3 white bars in front of the tail where the juvenile Herring gull normaly shows spots. Actually I thought the head a bit pale for a herring gull, so consulted Collins bird guide.

Yes, definitely a Yellowhammer. Very nice shot. I used to ring birds at one time, but don't think I ever got close enough to a yellowhammer to see that lovely russet rump.:wink:

Falcon rather than hawk - a female kestrel.
This is a wonderful shot. The raised scapulars and covert feathers show up so clearly. Excellent focus. Thanks!
