Started with focal B&W on tree. Sharpened the photo. Added highlites and shadows. Used neutureal colour picker to remove yellow colour from tree. upped saturation. Et Voila.

GlynM: What a fantastic idea, I would have never thought of such a thing. It is incredible that you had all the cars too. Little Golden Books are very collectible here in Canada. We do have the Ladybug series, also. The composure was lovely the contrast nice, if I could think of something that might have improved the shot, it would been to have more colour in the background…some deep dark colour would have made it “pop” more. You were bang on topic too. Brilliant piece. I loved it.
HAYRAM: This photo looks like the art a child would love. Who didn’t own a piggy bank? I do not think a childhood would be complete without one! You too were bang on with the topic. I think with out technology and computer abilities, it would be a shame not to have fun turning some of our photos into art-like work, but personally I do not like the photographs turned into art…that is just me of course. I think it might have been fun to have a wee bit more colour in the shot. His texture is rather sharp just the same.
MATWHITTINGTON: I am young and still in school. I would love to go through this box!! It is a treasure of memories. It is kept much like a boy would keep them, in a pile. I kind of wish that one of the figures, was a bit more attractive then the others. Example; One larger, or one shinier, or something, soo that the eye could be drawn there, rest and stop, then seek out the others. It lacks a focal point. You were right on topic. The brown of the box and the brown in the majorities of the characters made the photo bland, but in spite of that I really like it!
DrOrloff: Wow a bear that is 41 years old! That has to be a memory. He looks like he was taken everywhere. You were right on the topic. I did find the shadowing on his right side distracting. It would have been nice if he had more light on him. I found myself wondering what he might have look like in his natural colouring. I did like your background and the rustic wood…it suited Bobworth well! Glad you kept him!!!
Tozza27: Even though every child colours somewhere in thier childhood, I cannot imagine that being a deep impact of a memory. It would probably be more of a memory for a parent or some other adult in the childs life. Having said that, your focus, clarity, on was fantastic. I loved how crisp it stood out. I did find myself wanting too straighten the page! It is, the loveliest of colours. I can tell that the child did put a lot of work into it. It was not really what I was looking for.
I-berg: I do feel that you understood the topic. Stuffies are always a toy that hold deep and special memories. Many times a child can feel that they cannot be seperated from their favorite stuffy. To lose one, can be like losing your “bestest” friend. So bang on topic! I like the way you grouped them, but I did not like the harsh shadows that are behind them. I found Eyeor lost a little too much of the light, but then again being Eyeor, something is bound to go wrong.
Mikew: This photo is a wonderful, well done picture. I love the focus of the handle and the DOF of the inside of the basket. The problem I am having with the picture, is that without your story, I could not relate this object to a child. You did add what the basket was and where that memory came from, (by the way my mother even said “aww , sweet” when she read it!) and we have to give you points for that. I was hioping for images that we could all relate to, or that could stir up our own memories! Nice photo just the same Mike.
Judithann: A swing and a tire swing at that. It was on topic and I bet we all have a memory of how long or how high we could swing as a child. Its too bad the feet were cut off.... I think a picture of just the swing on its own would also have been appropriate
Womble: No I won't disqualify this photo, and I love it. I reminds me of "Thunder Birds" reruns my parents have subjected me to. It is a clear picture with the expression of how rich a childs fantasy life is. (did you make any sound effects as you snapped your shutter. I can almost hear a "piew-piew, grrrrrrrrr, ka-pow"
Dr. Mhuni: Poor Ken.... but when your best girl is as hot as Barbie I guess you may be waiting once in a while. This picture was simple and to the point, and I know many young girls play out the lifes they one day wish to have with this icon. That being said, it is on topic and well photographed
Davidtrout: This looks like the kind of book I would enjoy thumbing through. I love facts, and have a few older books of my moms and grand-parents(one which sings the praises of DDT). The soft light brought out the age and historical value of the volume. I can tell its pages were referenced many times by curious eyes. All in all, bang on!
Here goes nothing....
1st place- GlynM & Tootles the Taxi
2nd place- Womble & UFO Interceptors
3rd place- Dr.Mhuni & Where's Barbie?
And a commended to all other contenders.... You sure don't make an easy job of this!!!!!

Good topic! Glad I have children, so I don't have to creep around the beach taking photos of someone else's bucket and spade
I'm trying to work out if its better to shoot the Nintendo DS or maybe something a bit more traditional
I think it leaves the topic open...for anyone, anywhere. So as I say...be creative and have fun, lets see some prize winning photos
