One last time for anyone who is still puzzled. I found this link to many people wit the same problem. I will post it for those in the future. Thanks again for all of you who offered help. Much appreciated.

Once again, As I have a closer look at the contacts, I see that all of the little brass balls on the short lens are sitting proud of the steel ring on the 35-80, but they are are recessed on the 80-320. It seems like something may be wrong with the contacts on the lens.

Sorry, I was behind on reading the posts. I am not sure what the stop down lever is, but I see a rectangular piece of metal about 2mm wide, and 6mm long sticking out the back of the lens. It is in the identical position and shape as my 35-80 which seems to be working fine. I will clean the contacts with a bit of wd40 on a cloth.

I have tried switching back and forth from the permitted to the prohibited as I mentioned in the earlier forum entry, and now no pictures. Digital display has a bunch of information on it, but I don't know enough about the camera yet to know what all of the info is. I took the lens off the camera and the aperture is moving as I remember it did when I used this camera more often. Doesn't seem like there is a problem with the movement of the aperture!
Thanks

Thanks Don, In menus, I found an item called Aperture Ring. The options were Prohibited, or Permitted. The description below states: "pictures can be taken even when aperture ring position is other than A" I switched it to permitted. It now allows pictures, but they are way over exposed. I may have to try and play with the aperture settings. I may play around with it a bit more and reply back with what else is happening. I don't know much about this camera yet, so it is search and discover. Thanks again for the help people!

Still got the MZ 50, and everyting is good there. Its been on and off the camera a number of times, and switched in and out of A mode. I will try adjusting the aperture setting in menus. I will also look at the firmware.
Thanks again!

Thanks for the replies folks! I do have it set to A, and tried wiping the contacts. There was a bit of black, they shine now but still with no success. I'll wait to see if there are any other ideas.
Cheers

Gday Folks
We just purchased a K10D knowing that we had some lenses that would fit it. I tried my SMC Pentax-F 35-80 off of an older MZ-50 camera, and the lens works okay. When I try my SMC Pentax FA 80-320 lens off the same camera, there is a flashing F-- in the digital display and nothing works. Reading the forums, it sounds like any F/FA lens should work! Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for the help!
