You did'nt say what you have at the wide end.
Samsung 12-24, the only lens i would never consider selling
Also a Sigma 24-70 f2.8 which will always be in the bag.

The DA*50-135 is an amazing lens
Totally agree, but I never use it, whereas the 18-135 is a much more user friendly walkabout range.

Amongst my current line up are Pentax DA* 50-135 and DA 55-300 they are cracking lenses but i rarely use them.
Am going to Africa for 3 weeks next month, this will be a once in a lifetime trip. For around towns i think a wide to short telephoto would be a good choice 18-135?, Mike P speaks quite highly of it,

So 1st question, sell the DA*50-135 for a new 18-135?

2nd question;
I also have a 1.7x af teleconverter which I hardly ever use, sell this for around £220+DA 55-300( say £200) add some cash and go for a long Sigma, possibly 150-500?

I have a old Sigma 400 f5.6 which I think will be useful but the convenience of a long zoom may come in handy.

Any ideasthoughts welcome.

Would be interested to hear opinions.
Not particularly interested in web reviews, feel real life user experiences are more valid.

I have always believed in supporting local dealers, the many benefits do not need restating here. However, those dealers must also move with the times and offer a bit more than the solely online competition do.
I am not one of the many SRS sycophants to be found on this site, but they certainly seem to have found a pretty good model; personal service, online sales, and national press advertising via the "hobbyist" magazines.
It is always sad when a local company ceases trading, but did they really do all they could to survive?

Fascinating, while I have no pretensions to ever going pro this is a very useful insight. As others have commented, looking forward to the shots.

PKA will give you aperture control, PK will not.
PKA cost`s £45-£60, PK cost`s £10ish.
You pays your money, and takes your choice
