Got one of the Pentax 17-70 lenses myself just before Christmas from SRS. I would confirm all the good things Matt has said: the lens handles very well on my K10D & I find the zoom range to be very useful. I also have a 16-45 & whilst there are plenty of good things about it, I find 45mm too short & I don't like the fact it's fully extended at the wide setting - no denying the quality it can produce though.

I have also noticed the 17-70's tendency to underexpose a bit - strange, but very easily corrected & its resolving power, colour & contrast are excellent.

Finally got around to making this first post after lurking in the shadows for a few months picking up lots of useful advice.

I've just splashed out a a new Pentax 17-70 for my K10D so I'm hoping for some sunshine over the holidays so I can give it a good try out. Handles very nicely.
