It's a harvestman 'spider'. An arachnid, but not a spider. Good capture :)

Whoo. Beauty!

Drosophila melanogaster - Large fruit fly. Nice shot :)

euwwwe :) great shot. Levels (contrast) needs sorting tho.

Surprised no one's commented - I like it, very striking and nice composition.

lovely :) Very atmospheric. I love those little moss heads - there's always a picture in there somewhere.

That's a very cool shot. Great treatment. We get too few of these types of shot and I'm as guilty as the next man. :)

I think you have a point on all counts Paul, all comments are worth hearing; but it's still a lovely shot, and if she likes it, then that's what counts. I'm a big fan of square crops but that didn't occur to me. It just touched me, I liked the softness and the overall quality.

Yes, the overall position is nice but that petal nearly touching the bottom ('interfering' with the edge) draws my eye. Just adding to the bottom and having a tighter square crop looks good. The flower is still over to the bottom right. It's a stunning image and well worth some more experimentation I couldn't resist doing it here :)

That's lovely. I would crop away some of the top and add some at the bottom by cloning if necessary. Cheating? maybe... but it's what I would do :)
