I'll nip out today if I get a chance and turn SR off, I'm fairly certain that that is the cause.
I quite like this mage actually, if that dog in the back had been pin sharp I think I would have flooked a pretty cool image.

Just a brain teazer.
16-45, 6th of a sec, hand held, manual focus, SR on, any idea why the wheels look like that? I could understand if it was lit by street lights cycling at 50hz but sunlight?

Ignore the bad pan looks like I was panning too fast amongst other things...

As a documentary shot this is fine, but if the owner wants to hang it on the wall then a more arty aproach would help. for instance, in this shot the background is distracting. Loki (left) likes to get up to my level by standing on walls and boulders and he looks great up there at eye level.
So if you can get the background a lot further away so it blurs nicely and maybe shoot the dog in the evening light, I'm sure it will help.

I only wish it had the same gorgeous colours of your surfers. They were both taken at the same unflattering time of day (i think) but you have found that elusive warm light.

Belinda, common sense prevails when it comes to taking pictures of people, it is perfectly legal and acceptable. Please don't get sucked into the PC world of censorship. People are the very essence of photography.
That's why my favourite is Nimitz' babies bum on the beach. here's my very own 'minor' a couple of days ago.

While we're all chipping in with our 'walking around the garden' shots, I took 10 mins off work yesterday to test myself and my lenses against the best shot out there - Dan's Hoverfly. The only so called macro lens I have is the Tamron 70-300 (which usually collects dust) and I had 1 hoverfly to chose from but, purple fringeing aside, they are almost usable. Still no cigar tho'.

further to my first reply Martin, and I'm not sure if you are after constructive comments but to my eyes the image has a yellow cast. Not just evening light (it wasn't evening was it?).
This is in no way a criticism, it's all subjective, but I know I would want to know how other people percieve my images
