You may find that the rear element protrudes too far and would jam the mirror. I'm guessing it's for a rangefinder?

The wide door pillar is probably a structural requirement - the car would undoubtedly have bulletproof windows and the roof is largely glass, so you'd need fairly thick pillars to avoid the thing flopping around like a jelly and in order to protect the occupants in event of rolling the vehicle.

That said, I did see an interesting comment about the ever-thickening pillars on modern cars. The suggestion was that by adding extra-thick pillars to hold airbags and make the shell stronger manufacturers are actually making accidents more likely by creating bigger blind spots.

I'm quite surprised we haven't seen a rash of copies of either the old FA 35mm lens hood or the 35mm Ltd lens hood.

The DA 35 Ltd may also be suffering from the DA 35/2.4. While the Ltd may be better, a lot of people will surely look at the prices and go for the cheaper lens.

I'm not surprised there were a few 4x4s about - there are a lot of green lanes around there including Strata Florida (seven miles of off-tarmac heaven).

I got there about 11ish, wandered around until 12, ate sandwiches then came back.

Llyn Brianne was surprisingly busy, but looking at the film counter I think there must be some keepers in there by the law of averages! Trying to get through this roll and one more before they're too horrifically out of date.

Matt - as you say, I'll come at it from the Llandovery direction. Printed off this page to take with me so I don't miss anything. Home route looks to be via BW and the A470 > Talgarth > A479 > Crickhowell. As its free to leave Wales, prob take the shorter leg via the Severn Bridge rather than loop back up to Glos.

Steve
Google Earth is quite good for tracing it, bear in mind your phone probably won't work for most of that loop so you need maps with you. I don't bother now as I know the road pretty well.

I think 49mm, 52mm and 58mm would cover everything I own. I only really use lenses with 49mm and 52mm threads for normal day to day stuff, hence my cheap ND filters being in 52mm although I have CPLs for all three sizes. They're not bad at all considering they were £5 ebay HK cheapo things, but I'm keeping an eye open for genuine Pentax ones to upgrade the collection.

I have a handful of Hoya 49mm filters from my film days, but they're not terribly useful (a star filter, some weird thing which blurs the edges but leaves a central spot alone, and an 85? warm up filter).

Ahh, but Abergwesyn fits with the cars/bikes stuff...

If you're starting from the Llandovery end then follow signs for Llyn Brianne to begin with, once you've finished with the dam/spillway/lake then follow signs for Abergwesyn and Beulah to eventually rejoin the A483. It's like the Aber mountain road but longer and a bit more intense in places (the Devil's Staircase is brilliant going up and scary going down - vertical and with hairpin bends!)

I'll be starting from Beulah, going up the staircase and eventually ending at Llyn Brianne before a short trip to Llandovery then back up the main road.

Yep, I've just been looking!

Is there a listing somewhere of what filters Pentax have offered over the years? I've got a 49mm yellow filter for B&W but no idea what else they made.
