Surely the simple solution is to have an "allow ratings" option when users upload an image?

That way if you suspect your work is being targetted by petty vindictive types you can just stop them from rating it.

I'm wondering if it might be more "close focus" than true macro?

I have a few Pentax zooms with this, but they all seem to go no closer than about 0.4m despite the macro symbol.

Best bet is probably to find a suitable test subject and see how close you can get before the lens is unable to focus at various focal lengths.

Yep, in some cases I find the M lenses preferable. The A 50/1.7 has a plastic aperture ring which doesn't have the precise clicks of the M lens.

It will work just like an ME Super with an M lens, although you have an LCD shutter speed readout in the viewfinder (and on the top plate) rather than the LEDs and scale.

How does the speed of innovation in DSLRs compare to that in the early days of 35mm?

Looking at some Leica history sites seems to imply that they changed models about as often as Pentax currently do in their early years, presumably in response to their experience with the format.

Ahh

Look at close-up lenses/filters. You'll need to find the correct size but it's probably your best bet. I doubt you'll find the adapter for sale on its own, in my experience things like this either come with the lens or become a lengthy quest to track down.

Can't help thinking this might be a chicken and egg situation. Not many are sold because most people won't pay £1020 for a single prime lens, no matter how wonderful. You could almost buy a DA* 50-135mm and 16-50mm for that much!

Is it a K mount or an M42 screw mount?

What you need is normally called an extension tube - it fits between camera and lens to allow much closer focusing. They usually come in sets of three pieces which you use in different combinations to vary the length of the tube.

As for eggs:

Organic is optional

Free Range is not!

Agreed on the Polaroid - I'd have thought it was as big a development for the mass market as the Box Brownie?

Then again, the heading is "most influential". Did Polaroid lead to hordes of people picking up their first camera, as the Kodak did?

If I was taking photos for robots I might be swayed by the use of lots of numbers and graphs. As I'm taking them for humans I think I'll stick with what I have, thanks!
