I left my K7 + 18-55WR on a river bank in the care of a family member who shall remain nameless; came back 10 mins later to find camera had taken a tumble and was totally submerged in the river. I can't say whether the WR worked as the flash pop-up button must have been knocked on the way down, and the remote cap was unhinged - camera & lens were completely full of water!

A manic disassembly & drying session followed - the battery needed recharging but after a few days all worked as it should. I eventually sold on the K7, but am still using the 18-55 - after removing the water-marks from each lens group.

Two 2 x teleconverters for sale:

1. Komura Telemore95 II 7.K.M.C. (for PK). This has an excellent reputation. Fair cosmetic condition (a previous owner has for some reason made some marks on the rear mount) and good optical condition (there is a small fine scratch on the rear element). PK mount so no aperture info available. £10 +postage.

2. Teleplus MC4 2x KAX. Excellent cosmetic and optical condition. PKA mount, so full aperture reporting and control with KA and later lenses. £15 + postage.

Both come with front and rear caps.

Testing each paired with a 100 mm macro lens gave similar image quality to my eye (see below). Some CA apparent, but that's also present with just the lens, so not due to the TCs! High contrast at f/8; a little less wide open at f/2.8 with this tricky subject.

David, you're the first so you've got the 35-80. I'll message you when I've checked how much the postage will be.
Arrived today (actually yesterday, but I was out...), well packed - many thanks! I shall use this as a donor lens for a repair, then offer up all the remaining bits soon,

Hi Bob,

I'd be very grateful for the 35-80, if still available?

Cheers,

David

Would you sell without the KA adaptor???
I'd rather sell as a set so I'll try that first - are you after the adapter or the lens & tube (I've had an offer for the adapter, so it might work)?

Just come across this challenge - great idea and I've had to go and have a quick first go! I've tried to stick to Pentax parts where possible too...

2.5 s exposure, K-5, uncropped.

Here's the setup:

From the bottom up:

- A C. Baker 10 x achromat microscope objective (= 16 mm focal length), working distance ~ 2-3 mm. No aperture, so wide open. Came as part of a £50 microscope, so say £5?
- A Pentax Adapter K for microscope lens (can't remember where that came from).
- A Female K-mount, bodged from a donor teleconverter and used to replace the original M42 mount on:
- Pentax Auto Bellows, M42 mount. £18 (had been horribly abused in a past life).
- T2 adapter to PK, attached to what's left of the original bellows M42 mount.

Light source is a stereo microscope lamp (free, recovered from skip), with light softened by bouncing off 1 sheet toilet paper.

Shutter triggered with a Pentax IR remote in mirror-up mode.

Camera operator perched carefully on a chair to minimise changes in foot pressure giving rise to tripod movement via carpet.

My next attempt will be as above, but with a 40 x microscope objective (4 mm focal length) - working distance will be < 1 mm so lighting is going to be an issue ...
