I would like to continue this post with another question. I hope this will not mind the initial author, I thought it is connected to the subject and is of no use to open a new one.
So, which lens do you think will be more appropriate for such an event: a Tamron AF SP 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II LD IF, or Tamron AF SP 28-75mm f/2.8 Di XR LD Aspherical IF?
Regarding the optical characteristics (sharpness, distorsion, vignieting, etc), I found them quite similar, according to the reviews I found. Some authors said one is better others preffered the other one. I did not use any of them, so I have no ideea which is sharper.
Regardind the focal range, I guess on an APS-C might be some "problems" for the 28-75, as it will be quite difficult to make photos for large groups, so 17-50 might have a big plus on this. On the other hand, the 28-75 might bring more satisfaction on portraits.
So, what is your opinion, as experts, on this choice? If you have to choose one, which would be yours?
Many thanks

Well, you say they refer to the same thing. Then why are they often different, for the same photo?
I know how to set those parameters, but I do not know why, for a picture, the exif there shows bothe F-stop and Ap value, and the values are different?

Hi, I need a little help in understanding some terms. I saw in the Gallery section, when looking at the Exif details, that two terms appear:
F-Stop: f/6.7
Aperture Value: f/5.5
(the values differ from case to case, of course)
I am confused. I knew that F-stop is the ratio of the focal length to the aperture of a lens, and the aperture is the size of the hole that allows light in. For example, having a focal lenght of 50 mm, and a f-stop of 5.6, will result an aperture of 8.93 mm. So, what does it mean that term appearing in the forum called aperture value? I presume the f-stop is the parameter we fix on the camera (if we do, or is automatically set according to the camera program adjustment we use).
Thank you.

Hi, did anybody make some photos using this lens? I would highly appreciate if I can see some example, but without any correction / intervention with Photoshop or similar. Just the original version. I am very interested to see the sharpness capability. Is it comparable to Pentax M 50 1.7 ? I own this kind of lens, and I want to know it it worth to buy the new 35 in terms of sharpness.

Thank you
