Hi again, I have called pentax and after the fourth person finally got the part number for this flash gun, which is 30425.

The very helpful lady is also waiting for a press release which should contain the long awaited answers to everyones questions. Will post back when I get it.

I thought I should add that my style of photgraphy is reportage so I could need to ask my flash to take several images with flash in a row so as not to miss an opportunity.

Hi, I have used this flash in conjunction with my ist d in PTTL mode recently at a friends christening. They asked me as a favour to record their sons day in still images. I found that the flash was not there when I needed to use it, I had to wait for quite a while even with fresh batteries (NI Mh). At one point I turned off the camera and flash but the lights remained on it. Only by taking out the batteries could I turn it off ( this has only happened once). I understood from the manual that if I touched the cameras release button half way it would activate the flash and it would charge automatically, it does not seem to do this for me, even lessthan 1 minute?! I need it to be there when I need it not when it feels like it. If I change the modes right through on the unit to PTTL again then it lights as ready for a few seconds, and this is my window?!

I have now been asked to take some images for a friends civil wedding this winter, and I am very honoured and happy to do it, but not with the flash behaving like this.

Is it that I am asking too much, and that I need to upgrade my flash, if so what to? What I need is some good advice if anyone has any on what flash unit I should use or if the one I have is good for the job but sounds faulty.

Hi again, perhaps a silly question but can the ist D be totally silent? I have turned off all the beeps etc but still have the shutter release noise. Basically I am photographing a wedding and the vicar says only one photograph during the service so not to disturb the formalities, fair enough. BUT If I can make it totally silent and use a remote, I won't bother anyone and who's to know (other than the bride when she gets the proofs)? - anna

Hi, can anyone tell me how the battery grip works with the ist D. Does the ist D use its batteries first then move onto the grip or do they all work simultaniously. I suppose that when you get a low battery signal you change all the batteries, camera and grip?

Hi Guys I wonder if anyone could help me with this problem.

I have been through the lengthy process of calibrating my monitor (to Peak Imaging perferences). However, my issue is that images look perfect on the LCD of the camera but dull when down loaded to the computer. My ist d LCD seems to show pictures brighter. Does anyone else have this issue and how did you get over it?

I have tried this with 'EXIF's' on and 'Ignored', but the issue remains. I have tried the settings on the camera(brightness etc) but the issue remains.

I want to get to the stage of being able to load up pictures as I see them on my LCD, have them like that on the PC so I can produce contact sheets quickly, as I have ssen other photographers do. At the moment I am having to go into each and every picture in Photoshop elements and change the levels, which is frustrating me .

Can anyone offer any advice, I am new to digital to my learning curve has been more of a vertical climb but I'm getting there!!!
