I've been trying to find an Operating Manual for the AF360FGZ on the internet - but I haven't been able to find one. Any thoughts where I might find one please?

Update: I've just found one - here: http://www.pentax.com/docstore/index.cfm?show=6&app_id=1

All the manuals you ever dreamed of!

Thanks for that Matt.

I am aware of the AF360FGZ - but don't know much about it yet - so my next task is to find out.

Thanks again.

I'm a bit surprised at the lack of response here.

Does this mean that noone uses fill-in flash anymore? Surely we aren't content simply to use the "daylight synch" flash TTL setting provided by Pentax?

I have a Z1 and istD cameras. I have 2 flashguns AF280T and AF330FTZ.

As far as I understand things, the AF330FTZ is of little use for fill-in flash because daylight (TTL) sync flash outputs too much flash - and the only other alternative would be to use it set on one of its manual setings.

The AF280T is better - but is limited by only having 2 (fixed) Auto settings (this makes juggling the camera shutter speed and aperture with the flash output more difficult than it need be - particularly in changing lighting conditions).

So my (first) question is this:

Which flashgun (Pentax or other make) makes fill-in flash easy - i.e. with a variety of auto settings which can be set directly as 2 or 3 stops wider than the camera aperture?

I also have a second question: when using fill-in flash is it better to have the camera set in aperture prioirty mode (helps if you're using an AF280T), shutter priority mode (to make sure the flash synchs ok with the shutter) or manual (which gives exposure problems in changing light conditions)?

Hi John. Sorry about that!

I'll think I'll go with the Adobe RGB - I might as well have as much info to play with as I can.

That was a post from me - I hadn't realised I wasn't signed in.

Thanks for your informative comments Matt - much appreciated.

I feel now I can make an informed judgement - without feeling I'm stumbling around in the dark.

Regards.

I've just found a website that discuss sRGB and Adobe RGB(199 (and answers my first question above) - it's worth a read if you're interested.

Cheers.

Thank you John and Matt - this is very helpful.

A couple of follow-up questions if I may

Is sRGB an abbreviation for sRGB IEC61966-2.1? - there seems to be one "in the camera" and the other "in the computer". Are they in fact the same? or equivalent?

and for Matt,

when you say "before you output for web, ensure you switch to sRGB before saving This approach gives you more room for editing" - is your reference to "more room" meaning file size for processing or upload to web or something deeper?

Thanks again.

Apologies if this has already been covered ...

I am using Photoshop CS to process my digital images. I have set my Photoshop colour space to Adobe RGB (199 (as suggested in Scott Kelby's excellent book "the photoshop cs book for digital photographers") and now I am wondering if I should alter my camera settings.

My istD colour space is still set on the default sRGB - does anyone know if I should change this to Adobe RGB and why please?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for all your comments - much appreciated

What I'm actually looking to do is minimise depth of field. I would look to use a f2.8 lens mostly at f4 for this purpose.

I have a 28-105 Power Zoom - which is the lens I use most, whichever body I am using, but I tend to use this mostly at f8 or f11.

I also have an SMC Pentax M f4 75-150 and a Takumar f2.5 135 - so obviously these will do the job - it's just that autofocus zoom is so much more convenient.

Thanks again for your help.

For John Riley - you know me through north-west monochrome.
