...or maybe the Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC?

sorry I've forgotten to mention the Sigma 17-35 mm F2.8-F4.0 EX DG HSM - maybe a good, cheaper alternative to the Pentax DAs mentioned above?

Hi everyone,

has anyone used the Zenitar-K 16mm on a Pentax DSLR? Results?

I came across this on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lens-Zenitar-K-Fish-Eye-New-Pentax-K-bayonet-16mm_W0QQitem...

and was wondering what to make of it. I read somewhere that - since I'm not using a full-frame - I won't get the same effect as on a 35mm SLR with this lens. I wouldn't be unhappy with this - in fact I'm not crazy about the "fishy" effect of these kind of lenses.

What I'm after is a decent wide-angle lens whose focal length corresponds more or less to a 24mm on my K20 (and whose price is not above £150) for landscapes/architecture. Best if it's a prime, but it's probably wishful thinking to hope to get on for this price (well, except the Zenitar, perhaps). Any idea? A zoom would be an alternative - like the Pentax DA 10-17mm or 16-45mm maybe. What do you think?

Also it's not clear to me the difference in terms of result on a Pentax DSLR between a "pure" fish-eye (like the Zenitar, but I've seen some unaffordable SMC-A as well) and a DA 10-17mm. And IF I really went for a Zenitar, would it be a bit of a pain to use it on a K20 (thinking of no automatism at all here)?

Thanks!

hi everyone,

just a doubt: the Pentax Pentax 50-200mm f4-5.6 SMC DA ED WR costs £129 at SRS (http://www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk/3236/Pentax-smc-50-200mm-F4-5-6-ED-AL-WR-Lens.h...).

This lens seems to be generally much more expensive on the market (even on eBay). I'm not suggesting anything here, but is there a way to tell Pentax non-WR from WR lenses? What's the difference between a Pentax DA 50-200mm and a Pentax DA 50-200mm WR?

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

can I use a SMC Pentax-A 645 1:2.8 75mm on a K20D? Would I need some sort of adaptor? Would it be less functional - at any level - in comparison with the SMC-A lenses designed for 35mm?

Thanks!

you're right, I was obviously looking at the wrong direction. I didn't know SRS. Would you say they are a good "alternative" (or even better maybe) than the smc-a 24-50 (all I have at the moment) and the 35-105 discussed here? If that's the case I could sell the 24-50 and forget about the other one...

Good tip George, I'll try that. Had a quick look around and it looks like the WR lenses are more expensive than I thought, so I'll stick to old Pentax for the time being

hmmm...that's what I thought. It's a good lens but the price is a bit high. And it's on eBay...http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170389604816&_trksid=p2759.l1259

Good point about the new weather-sealed lenses. I'll look into it. Can you see the wear on the aperture barrel?

oops...sorry I've forgotten it's for sale for £170...

hello, hope you don't mind my asking this kind of advice: I've come across a Pentax-a smc 35-105 f3.5 for sale. The item is described as in excellent conditions (although I noticed that there's some sign of wear in the aperture barrel - I wonder if this is normal?). Do you think this is a fair price?
