Why?

Why do some "columns" of panes reflect the sky, while adjacent columns reflect nearby structures? The answer, probably, is that slight differences in the PLANES of the glass can cause major differences in what is reflected, Here, for example, the planes of the glass in the columns reflecting the sky probably tilt upwards (ie the top of the glass is "pushed" towards the building while the bottom of the glass is "pulled" towards the street.)

Could it also be a deliberately different sort of glass so that the effect from inside differs too? You'll need to get in and see.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

David: thanks for comment, but I don't think so. Note there are small building reflections in two of the panes; also, a "different sort of glass" wouldn't reflect the sky differently depending on the time of day, as those panes do. Furthermore, further down on the facade, the panes in these columns act much like their neighbours to the left and right, all the way down to the street level. No, I'm quite sure these "blue panes" have been set on a different plane than their neighbours---quite understandably because the facade is absolutely a mammoth one, and furthermore, gradually curves from east to west, bowl-like. Up close, I think you'll have two panes running on a straight line, then the vector of the panes changes, runs straight, changes, etc etc etc.

Are you using a tilt lens for this?
My reason for asking is that.... unless the windows are much smaller than it appears.... all your lines absolutely spot-on square!
Really like this one.... it would look good printed on canvas and hung!
Never be afraid to talk about your techniques...

To Drofmit: no tilt lens. 300mm lens, shot from a distance. I frequently have to make use of rotate, vertical, etc controls, however, to straighten out distortions. Often cannot get everything squared away, but that's OK.
