Took this in TaV mode with my K20 and da 55-300mm while at my sister's garden.

Works because of the yellow on blue contrast

That's lovely.
I would crop away some of the top and add some at the bottom by cloning if necessary. Cheating? maybe... but it's what I would do

Thanks for the comment That might work also. I used the rule of thirds so that's why I put the flower centre in the lower right spot and that's why there is some more stuff at the top section. That's lovely.

Yes, the overall position is nice but that petal nearly touching the bottom ('interfering' with the edge) draws my eye.
Just adding to the bottom and having a tighter square crop looks good. The flower is still over to the bottom right.
It's a stunning image and well worth some more experimentation
I couldn't resist doing it here

I agree it would look better that way. Thanks for the idea, maybe I'll do it one day when I get bored (again) and thanks again for your nice words and for having such a good eye for excellent photos... Just a lil' joke, though I'm not saying you wouldn't have a good eye.Yes, the overall position is nice but that petal nearly touching the bottom ('interfering' with the edge) draws my eye.
