Canning Dock Revisited

by newbiek50user

I uploaded a photo of this scene a few weeks ago but went back last week to Liverpool to visit the River of Light Festival. While there I took this new photo with my new 15-30 mm lens which I think brought out the colour more and was much sharper than the 24-70 mm lens I used last time.

Another good capture. I find very difficult to talk about differences of these two lenses. You took two different pics not at same hour. This last capture looks like sharper than previous one but lights and colors give their best results just at night when contrast is deeper. This is my opinion. Anyway you got right exposure in both pics and editing is very fine.

Thank you for your comment and your observations. Perhaps you are right. Maybe I was hoping that the new lens is sharper.

I certainly agree with Giulio and I can't imagine any other lens being much sharper than the 24-70! I bought one earlier this year and I love it! I normally apply a degree of sharpening to anything I post online, especially PU, but I find that additional sharpening is unnecessary with the 24-70!
Night-time shots like yours really are my 'cup of tea' although I tend to use HDR to make them even better!

Thanks, Paul. I do like my 24-70. It had just seemed to me that the 15-30 image looked much sharper but, as Giulio says, that's probably because the 15-30 shot was taken at night rather than the blue hour. Either way, I'm quite pleased now with my new 15-30 and look forward to getting some use out of it.
