Kite having lunch.

As I have said before the wildlife comes to me. This one had a pigeon in the garden for lunch.

Hi Vic, I think you'll find that it's a Sparrow Hawk and not a Kite.
Nice shot all the same.

My wife saw it first. I grabbed the camera and took 3 or 4 shots through the window then crept outside quietly and got a couple more shots. All on automatic as I didn't have time to set anything else up on the camera, just switched on and fired. (Thank goodness for SR). We have a lot of kites around here and I just got a look at its tail as it took off. Do Sparrow Hawks have a "V" tail same as the Kites? I'm not a bird man so help me out. Also when I looked at the feathers on the lawn they were all grey. This makes me think it wasn't a pigeon but a dove as we have a couple knocking about. However this morning there is only one of them.

John. I've looked it up in a big book. Also I've looked closer at the tail. I think you might be right. I bow to your superior knowledge.
