A Hidden Beauty

by SmutjeUK

Still trying out my GX-10. Found this in a dark corner in front of a wall. Used only natural light as the flash would have sown all the dirty wall and dead plants behind it and I just wanted the flower so I played around with the brightness, contrast and saturation a bit and cropped about half of the surround away.

Hello Bernhard, This is a brilliant picture!
Everything's in focus beautifully.
If you can "shed some light" on how you managed to isolate just the flower, please do...did you use a black card behind the flower/...
I'd love to have some advice!
Thanks
Ravi.

Honestly I did not use any tricks. It was by pure luck that I spotted this one in the under grows of the County Park and the Sun just came through on the flower, nowhere else.
If you click on the EXIF value tag you can see the settings. Nothing special here either.
All I did was in post production to enhanced the brightness, contrast and saturation and cropped away the surrounding area of dead branches, leaves etc.
Exposure was set to full program with centre metering.
I just was lucky, as without the sun shining through the surrounding bushes and dead or dying plants and a brick wall set right behind it I would not even have spotted that beauty.
Got a few more from that day, all of them still in full beauty but on the brink of dying as everything in October and will place some them here one a day.
I just was lucky, kept my eyes open to the surrounding area I was walking through and took my time in walking and looking and I got this lucky shot.
Many thanks for your kind comments.

Does anyone knows what kind of flower this actually is?
Sorry, I just liked how it was sitting there on its own and the Sun shining on to it and have actually no clue of the species.
Any help here?

Very nice photo. I like the way you edited it. My guess is some sort of lily.

A Lily at the end of October. Well I never.... Many thanks for that. Busy this morning but will post a new one this afternoon.
Its nice to see that you like the picture. Seems I slowly get to grips with the 'new' Digital SLR at least.
