Other shots taken on the X90 have been posted to the gallery previously but none of them seems to provide the degree of clarity of an SLR. This shot suffers in the same way despite the good execution.

Well X90 is a good compromise if you consider the price. This photo was made without tripod. I think that with a tripod the results are comparable to and SLR.

Surely it doesn't require an SLR to get a shot in focus? [apologies if the soft focus was intended]. Worth trying this again I think

A DSLR without a tripod would be much sharper I feel. Again, apologies if the soft focus was the intended outcome. I do like the idea and it would be worth another attempt

I think that it is quite difficult to stay still using the macro function (plus zoom). I will try with the tripod when I will have one and I will let you know if it is a camera or an hand problem.

Thanks for the suggestion

I don't think it's a camera shake problem. The image is just out of focus.

Ok I looked at the original image. The problem in this picture is the post production (coloured in red) the noise in the centre of the drops (that seems out of focus) is actually the my image reflected while I was shooting.
Soon I will post the original one so you can give me a seconfd opinion.
Thanks

Well I have to conclude that this picture get the point as (in the good and in the bad) it capture your attention
