The last Pannier tank locomotive
by GlynM
This is Pannier tank locomotive 4612 masquerading as 6779, the last pannier tank loco to leave the Swindon Works 70 years ago.
The loco is on a visit to the Nene Valley Railway who were holding a special gala to celebrate the 70 year event which also included a pair of class 14 diesels that were built in Swindon to replace the pannier tanks.
The loco is pictured approaching Orton Mere station and the footplate crew are preparing to exchange tokens while passing the signal box.
Shot raw, processed in LR6 then cropped and resized in PSE14.
