After checking internet sources, I think the lower is probably a Ringlet. If you'd had more confiction in your ID I probably wouldn't have checked.Top one is a Gatekeeper, the bottom one looks like a Meadow Brown.

I agree the gatekeeper overshadows it, & perhaps would be better on it's own. (However I'm naturally greedy & like a BOGOF!)
The Ringlet in my opinon wouldn't be up to much on it's own, the near edge of the wings are too soft & it's posture is nothing special. (And it's colouring is naturally less attractive)
