Whatever they did, it's a nice photo. I made the original comment because I was inside the Town Hall trying to listen to one of Mr. Trotter's Monday organ concerts with a terrific racket going on, about where the tree is now, as they ripped up some perfectly good paving with a caterpillar mounted jackhammer.
