Excellent shot. Good balance. Exposure excellent. Would have liked a little more detail in the shadows perhaps, but nice view and well seen.

You seem to have the knack of making a very nice scene out of things I'd just pass by, very inspiring.

A good composition and image Andrew. What aperture did you use & where did you meter in spot mode?

Best regards

Thanks everyone.
This was a lucky grab shot. We were walking down the road past the gate when I saw this tumbledown barn The sun came out for just ten minutes. After taking some pictures in and around the barn, I turned and saw this...

I nearly always meter to retain highlight detail. I hate blown highlights and feel that clotted shadows, while not desirable, look more natural. Aperture was f8 or 5.6. I just jab the green button in manual and let the camera set the exposure. I've found the K10 very accurate and rarely have to alter the shutter speed.

Doc, the Quantocks are wonderful hills, but very hard to photograph. It seems crazy, as I know them so well, but the results are flat and never convey the beauty of the area. There's little shape to the tops and there's often little foreground interest.
Best wishes,

Andrew
