A member of the footplate crew steps across the line next to 60103 "Flying Scotsman" as she waits to depart from Ropley. Scotsman was hauling an evening Dining train run to celebrate the reopening of the Md Hants Railway to Alton after a year of truncated running caused by road widening and bridge replacement work

Plus its quite a crop too....don't mind the grain though!

I think the graininess helps it. Certainly doesn't detract from that superb shot. (The serial number of the carriage looks really odd against that locomotive).
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Converging diagonals, gritty fog and the solitary figure combine with the surrounding darkness to produce a compositional gem. A+++
