Odd how things happen. I've been in Southport (of all places) this week. The artist who produced the 1950s Dan Dare comic series in the Eagle is a son of Southport and there is a permanent exhibition of his work there. I was looking at it a few days ago. This shot could easily have been slotted into the display. His futurism and this reality are amazingly close. You could imagine The Mekon having his offices in this tower.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Now, that is most interesting. I shall try to dig up information on this Toronto building and post it here soon. Meanwhile, let me say thank you davidwozhere for your comment.

This building, nicknamed "The Sliver", boasts the most slender height-to-width ratio in the world, according to one website. At its base, it is tied into existing old bank buildings which needed to be brought up to earthquake-proof standards. The Sliver is 578 feet tall, and contains an almost equal number of condos and hotel rooms. The architect is Standford Downey Inc, and as far as I know, they never heard of Mekon and the Dan Dare comic series.
