The idea is very good but the execution not quite as good. Sorry if that sounds a little critical but I'm just relating my own experiences of HDR.

This photo puzzles me, especially the strange settings you've used! Were you using a tripod? Fusing bracketed photos normally results in a much more even distribution of the light. A tripod would allow you to use an aperture that would get the best out of the lens, around f8 - f11, and to set a lower ISO.
