Squirrel 01
by aminstar
Found this little fellow trying to get to the bird's feeders . Missed some of the most acrobatic moves as it remained hidden behind the feeder.
Comments and suggestions including advice on how to improve the capture of this little fellow greatly welcome

Nice action picture,
Often the problem is getting the shutter speed fast enough to stop the action, your Exif shows a K20D so you should be able to up the ISO to 800 which would give you faster shutter speed of 1/320 and more depth of field at f6.3.
To get the camera to react faster you could even go manual for exposure; mounting on tripod will enable the anti shake to be turned off, with a ball head (rather than pan tilt) it should be reasonably easy to follow the squirrel.
If its antics are sufficiently centred around one spot (bird feeder) it may even be practical to turn off the auto focus too as manual focus may only need to be done once.
All the above will enable the camera to take its picture much quicker after you have reacted to the squirrel doing something interesting, and the increased shutter speed and depth of field should increase the keeper rate.

Good luck
