Thanks for your comments guys. Technically this was the hardest shot to accomplish...285 shots taken on the day to achieve this. I did have some more 'interesting' shots content wise involving several karts in the frame, some of them more colourful. I'll post a couple more over the next day or two. Overall though it was a successful photo day out helped by the weather which gave more scope for experimenting with various combinations of iso, shutter and aperture.
Big weakness in my armoury as well was the card I was using. With the images saved at the highest jpeg setting, when i was using the action programme and using continuous shutter, the card was only capturing about 2 frames per second for about 1 second plus before 'bombing out' meaning that some good shots weren't captured at all as the buffer couldn't cope...it was like firing 'blanks'
Was a Fujifilm class 6 SD card. I definitely need a class 10 for next time.
