Something waspish

by milamber

Not a wasp, or a hoverfly, possibly a Nomad Bee or a Cuckoo Wasp (Vespula austriaca). Any other suggestions?

It's a great picture but it's not a Wasp!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny how some topics in the Forum attract so much interest! Your macros are really starting to shine Chris - I always keep an eye open for them. Looking forward to lots of spectacular Butterfly shots from you this Summer!

Thank you David. That's kind of you to say. I did 'upgrade' to a proper 100mm macro lens a couple of weeks back, but still keep going back to the humble M 50 1.7 with tubes or teleconverter.

I can't get the images from the 100mm macro anywhere near close to those from the non macro 50mm, either hand held or with a tripod.

I've either got a particularly good 50mm or a slightly off 100mm! Judging by other pictures I've seen it's probably the former.

If I could just stretch to a DA 100mm......

Hi Charlotte

Lovely eyes - there were some requests for a close up of the eyes, but it's raining today which saves me the embarassment of not being able to get that close anyway! 50mm with 120mm of tubes perhaps
