Ski Train Meets A Coal Load
by Mojaveflyer
The Rio Grande Ski Train, that ran from downtown Denver to the Winter Park Ski Area just west of the Moffat Tunnel, meets a loaded coal train at Leyden siding, the first siding west of Denver. The Ski Train ran from 1940 to March, 2009 when it was sold to a Canadian group. The skyline of downtown Denver is visible in the background. This trip actually occurred on August 9, 2008, since during the summer people would ride the train to the ski area and ride mountain bikes on the bare ski runs.
