Another good work....Sometimes i prefer old films/chromes scanned so to get a digital file to work with. Most of times it is possible to reach several goals using this path, IMHO.Sometimes digital lacks...of something...

I am also interested in exploring the possibilities of a "hybrid" workflow. For now I scan my films, and work with the digital files on my Mac. Maybe some day I will also build a darkroom and work completely analogue. I have had my 67ii for about two years now, and brought it along with my DSLRs on my phototrips. Only recently have I had the chance to scan my films, and I am have been quite surprised to see how different results I have gotten from the same session and same motive with my K20D/K-5 and the medium format camera.

I use my darkroom prints on a cheap scanner and then show the results on the web. The simple fact is that my prints are a million miles away from what you see in my portfolios. I scanned a couple of negatives on my brother-in-laws scanner and the results were very ordinary. I use dodging/burning/graded papers/filters in the darkroom which gives me a completely different photograph from a plain 10 second exposure of light onto the paper. I manipulate in the darkroom akin to others using photoshop. I feel that as long as people see the subject and the style of the photographer, then that is enough to go see an exhibition of work if really interested. My view of Brandt, Salgado, Bailey and others work when seeing them 'in the flesh' is one of open jawed wonder at the beauty of what is in front of me.

I love film for this. I marvel at technique of the photographers using digital, but silver hallide does something strange inside the nape of my neck at many times. Holding a print in your hand hits many senses.

This photograph you have here is a lovely piece of work. Meditative and calming. Deserves to be the focus point in a tea ceremony in studying it's simplistic, thoughtful values. Many thanks for this.

Thank you Gray! It is very interesting to read about your technique and darkroom work. It would be great to see some of your work in print format, maybe if I ever travel to Wales... I have little experience with the darkroom, but I love shooting film. There is something special about looking through a developed strip of 120 dias for the first time. I am glad that film is still around, and that it is possible to purchase fabulous photographic equipment, like the Pentax 67ii or instance, for maybe 25% of the price it commanded when new. New films are being developed and released. I remember reading some recent articles by Tim Parkin, and he was very optimistic towards the future of analogue film.

I've had this shot sitting on my screen for the last 24 hours! I love it!
I've been using film over the last couple of years and I feel that it gives me a different approach to photography - I tend to shoot things that I wouldn't with digital which, surely, is a complete reversal! It's even better when I take out an old camera from my Pentax collection and bring it back to life!

I understand well your attitude towards film, it is something completely different to digital. I love film!
