shipwrecked on the Isle of Wight
by petemasty
This was one of the very first pics i took with my K20 using the Mk1 18-55mm. Taken a week before Easter and on an evening that was beginning to get foggy I thought I'd try to do a composition training. The aim was to show a wrecked boat and a person (the missus) in the same frame thus trying to get an image that conveys a story. It was pure luck that she was in the position she was in (the missus that is) because usually I just find it so tempting to just push her in the sea.

I just noticed the sun just above the boat "Icarus" wings stuck on with wax etc, crashing into the sea.
Well thought out.

Loskeran, being the photographic genius that I am I'd like to say I chose the subject and commposition for that exact reason. but I'm a complete novice at this and the link never even occurred to me. But you are going to be the las tperson I admit it to.
cheers for pointing out what is blatantly obvious but i completely missed, lol.

Fantastic colours and a great subject, love the sun, also the highlighted mast, well done.
Only thing that bugs me is the person on the right hand side, I think it spoils the perfect horizon. That's just my opinion.

Typical of the missus to spoil a good picture. Thank God she's facing away from the camera.
I suppose i have two images in one. The one you allude to and the one that i posted which I feel conveys a story.
Being completely new to photogrpahy, ie, March, I didnt think much of the picture initially, but I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder (you should see the wife!)a dn maybe my artistic eye with improve as i get more experience.
Maybe I should erase the wife. Oh the endless possibilities.
cheers Mr bug
