I thought the same thing David.

Didn't notice it at the time as it all happened quite quickly...just assumed they were fishing.

Looks like some kind of echo sounder or detector.

Further to my reply...it is made by Haswing...have just looked online and they specialise in electric outboard motors...I think it is one of those.
