Midges on the wing (Chironomus plumosus)

by Daronl

Spent a few hours today looking for Otters without success but I was surprised at the swarms of tiny midges (Chironomus plumosus) above the water surface - so I decided to see if I could emulate the little Pipistrelle Bat and capture them in flight.

The aerobatics of these little critters was frantic but it seems the wonderful K3.3 - will catch anything Flying

Amazing detail. You've got me wanting a DA*300 lens to go with my K3iii. Even so I doubt I could capture a midge with anything like this detail.
