Western Character

by Peter Elgar

Took this 'character' in USA some years ago on a trip with the 'PhotoTravellers' Group organised by Peter & Liz Cox who used to run the Pentax Club. I used ORWO NP22 film, Asahi Pentax Spotmatic + 105mm f2.8 SMC Takumar . I did a 16x12" darkroom Print on Ilford Multigrade IV Pearl and sepia toned it using Thiocarbamide -- this one was 'Toned' in PhotoShop 7 !

Great portrait presented in 'period' style. Was it scanned or did you photograph the print?

I scanned the neg with my old ( but FREE !) Epson 1650 flatbed+ Vuescan Pro+ PhotoShop 7 as the PRINT was too large to get onto my HP Scanjet A4 scanner-- then converted to RGB then in 'saturation' ticked 'Colourise' and moved the hue slider to sepia. ( SEE-- I am gradually LEARNING all this Digital fakery !
