Many thanks for all your kind comments, especially about the 'B&W'.

If it is any help to others looking to try this out this was NOT actually a true B&W conversion !

I simply reduced the colour content by moving the 'Vibrance' slider in Adobe Raw to the left till I got the desired effect.
I like this method as it leaves a small amount of colour giving a bit of warmth instead of what sometimes looks cold in true B&W.
Each to his own, of course !
