Wild boar. They've become a bit of a pest in Germany. Quite tasty but a very non vegetarian option.

Poor old piggy. I hope that he tasted good.
The exposure is a bit long for a 300mm lens. There is just a slight loss of sharpness around the eye and nearby. You have a steadier hand than I have, to get it as good as this at 1/80 sec.

I stand corrected - I would very much like a slice please Wild boar. They've become a bit of a pest in Germany. Quite tasty but a very non vegetarian option.

I agree, I should have increased the ISO. I have this thing about keeping the ISO low and don't pay enough attention to speed. I know that shots like this often turn out better at higher speeds, even if it means higher ISO. In this case there's also motion blur (the spits were rotating quite fast) and shallow depth of field (300mm @ f/5.8 ). But then I posted the image more for the emotion it provokes, rather than for its technical excellence! The exposure is a bit long for a 300mm lens. BTW, thanks for your constructive critique. I wish there was more of it in the Gallery and welcome anything that could help improve my photography. Perhaps people hold back for fear of causing offence.
