Tree rat? Maybe. But this a red squirrel and this is an endangered species in England. Its a lovely picture with great colour.

David. This might be an endangered specie, but when the little varmits strip my fruit trees by taking just a bite out of every fruit before they are ripe, then, yes!! they are in danger. Pretty to look at and watch but a pest of a high magnitude when they are in your garden. Like so many things beauty is in the eye of the beholder BUT... so is predudice.!! and I have reasons to be predudiced.

It does absolutely nothing about these or other animals eat from what I have in my garden. I feed squirrels and other animals in both winter and summer, just because they will stay with me so I can see their mischievous kids play. I could never make an animal ill -David. This might be an endangered specie, but when the little varmits strip my fruit trees by taking just a bite out of every fruit before they are ripe, then, yes!! they are in danger. Pretty to look at and watch but a pest of a high magnitude when they are in your garden. yve. The picture is superb and I congratulate you on getting such a beautiful pose.
Yes! I feed the varmits and |I take many photos of them and enjoy their antics, but, I am also a gardener whose main hobby is rescueing old fruit varieties from extinction.
They are destructive. I would not mind them taking a few fruit but they chew nearly every fruit just before they are ripe.
I would never hurt them in spite of my frustration. My comment was to give voice to the reality that, as angelic as they look, they are still pests in every sense of the word.
