Grave Marker

This cross was the original grave marker of Lieutenant John Philip Morton Carpenter, the son of the Archdeacon of Salisbury; he died 16 September 1916 and is buried in Bulls Road Cemetery, Flers, France.

Very effective. However, a slightly tighter crop would have removed what is perhaps another cross on the left side.

You're right Paul, a tighter crop would help. You're also correct, it is one of about 6 of these crosses from WW1 graves.
