The components come together well except the stone wall on the left, which for me detracts rather than adds. Well seen.

Not sure I agree with Nigel. To me, the stone wall does not distract; simply perceived subliminally as a natural and unremarkable part of the frame surrounding the window. My attention remained focussed on the "contents" of the window, which by the way, are interesting.

I hesitated. But without the stone wall tyere would not have been an essential bit of the world.

I very much believe in the authors decision, even when it differs from my own opinion, which by the way is correct
