Good closeup work, David.
But it is sight that horrifies me - we have 1000's of similar sycamore and beech tree seedlings growing in our lawn and all the patio pots, and it is back breaking work trying to pull them all out ! So please don't remind me

Oh dear! And here's me having deliberately encouraged an entire seed tray full ..... they are a most staggeringly lovely variety of acer however. I've got them in various years' growth stages. When they are big enough I sell them. (Your average sycamore seed key is about 1.5ins long. These are barely .5inch).

It's the sycamores and beeches that are the problem. I removed a beech nut earlier this week and it already had a tap root around 6in long !Oh dear! Acers, on the other hand, are quite different and I'd be happy to 'take one off your hands' sometime
