Youngster

by 1stEverPentax

Noticed this juvenile cormorant all alone and looking a bit sorry for itself perched in a small tree beside a backwater off the main river.

Over a period of about 20-25 minutes I managed to get gradually closer...eventually to within about 30 feet...popping up slowly every now and then to grab a shot before sinking down again on knees/haunches.

I was pleasantly surprised it didn't attempt to move away although it did look wet and cold and darkness was drawing in as the light deteriorated quickly.

Was a shame that there were so many branches in the way but overall was pleased with what I manged to get.

i just hope that the youngster was ok and is still around today...hopefully in better shape.

Superb image - well worth the effort! I'm sure it will find it's way home after a good rest

Cheers John...hopefully survived ok.

I'll probably wander down there again tomorrow for a look.

Great result from a lot of patience.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Yes, was pleasantly surprised myself by them when viewed on my screen at home.
