Sole Surviving Avro Tutor
Was used by the RAF College Cranwell and Central Flying School before being 'demobbed' in Dec 1946. A year later it joined the civil register as G-AHSA.
The aircraft suffered a major engine failure during filming of 'Reach For The Sky' and was grounded for a few years while the engine was completely rebuilt
as parts were hard to source.
This aircraft is currently painted in the colours of the Central Flying School Aerobatic Team as K3241 and is believed to be the sole survivor of its type.
The 'info' hopefully adds something extra although to be honest I just 'lift' it from various sources...mainly from the boards next to each aircarft in the hangars.
regards
Karlo
